DPBC: Progress Report
Construction at the new brewery is trucking along. As I type this, I’m overwhelmed by the sound of angle grinders, buffers, hammers and the ringing of dropped bolts. What’s exciting is that it’s finally all coming together!
As some of you probably saw via twitter last week, the new 1,500 litre system is up and running. Our assistant brewer, Alastair Gillespie, is busy making the transition from “Old Faithful” to “Sputnik” while JC starts ramping up for our first experimental batch this Friday.
“Experimental . . . wait . . . new beer?!”
That’s right. We’re finally ready to explore new frontiers of beer making in South Africa. I hope you’re ready for bold new styles from the minds of the people who brew your favourite ales.
How many new beers? I can say that the long nights of recipe development meetings have paid huge dividends for us. Everyone in the company has a copy of BeerSmith and entry into the meetings requires a copy of your newest idea! Trust me when I say the meetings are worth the entry price.
I’d recon you’re still reading with bated breath as you wait for me to reveal the new styles coming down the line. Sorry guys and gals, not just yet! What I can promise is exclusive, limited edition tastings at our new tap room which is slated to open as early as this August.
I wonder what delicious beers are sitting in these wine barrels?
How about brewery tours, all DPBC beers on tap, exquisite food, events, and a fantastic view of our namesake? There’s a Pacman machine? What?!
It won’t be long before you’re sitting on our balcony, sipping on a tasting glass of special edition while watching the clouds roll in over Devil’s Peak. Patience our loyal court. Patience!
